Weekend

I had a pretty awesome weekend. How 'bout you guys? :)

Friday: I was home alone for most of the night. The 'rents took off to Pampanga to attend a friend's funeral and my brother was just about on his way home from Baguio. Since I had to wait for him, I watched old Gimik episodes (this old school local teenybopper series from the 90's I used to watch all the time) to stay awake. Have you ever known Melanie (Mylene Dizon) and Brian (Bojo Molina) to be the cheesy ones? Kuya got home so late I was in a grumpy mood already but he more than made up for it with all the Baguio treats he went home with. Chocolate crinkles, strawberry pastillas, choco flakes and oatmeal cookies. Yum yum!

Saturday: The boyfriend went over to hang out. He brought me dalandan! :) We watched How I Met Your Mother Season 2 for most of the afternoon. Then since the brother just turned 26 last August 25, he treated us and had pizza delivered to celebrate. The rest of the afternoon was spent watching Gods Must Be Crazy 2 on VCD and playing Wii Pool. After the boyfriend went home and the parents arrived, I went to Brizie's house to celebrate Fitz's birthday and hang out with Pam, Albert and the rest of the Cordero kids.

Sunday: Today was easy breezy. I woke up, ate lunch and slept the afternoon away. In the evening, me and the family had dinner out to celebrate, again, the brother's birthday. His treat! Chinese food FTW!

I just realized I was raving about my weekend because of all the yummy food I had. That is so...ME! Haha. And with that, I leave you with my gorgeous fez.

• I'm tired. My feet are seriously killing me from all the window-shopping me and my girlfriends did earlier today.

Blondes Have More Fun

Bahaha! Okay. So yesterday afternoon (as I'm typing this at 1 AM of August 25) I was finally able to drive to the salon and had my hair colored. (I already went in for a skin test weeks earlier.)

Choosing the color is hard enough because it's my FIRST TIME ever. I wanted something subtle--a dark shade that lightens when illuminated. The receptionist recommended dark blonde and showed me a sample. I was surprised to see that it's much like medium brown, only a tad lighter. I had no idea that "blonde" has a brunette shade. But whatever.

Dark blonde it is.

Erm. Nothing much changed. Hihi. But the person who did it said it'll lighten with every shampoo so we'll see. But I personally love it. It's subtle and classy. Besides, I was aiming for a dark shade.

Good news! The boyfriend had a callback today. Remember that day we went to Makati to submit applications? Well this afternoon, GlaxoSmithKline scheduled him for a screening. Today. At 9 AM. And I'm coming with him so I need me a shuteye real soon.

And oh! It's the brother's birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY kuya! Don't forget to treat us dinner when you get back from Baguio. And bring me home a decent scarf.

Day 8 - A Photo That Makes You Angry / Sad

Man this is hard.

Ah. I found this photo after going through endless folders on my hard drive. This is my collection of stuffed animals dating back when I was still little. They lived in these shelves in an extra room in our house before it was transformed into a bathroom. Now, I have no idea where they are. And that makes me sad. I miss my childhood. :(

A Sad, Sad Day

A terrible thing happened in our country today. 

Bloody end to Philippines hostage drama

I cannot put into words how I feel. But to quote one of my friends, 

"People died, period. THAT's what REALLY sucks. More than the tainted Philippine image, more than the alleged bans, more than the adverse effects on tourism."

Incidentally, it happened the day I posted a photo of me and my family in Hong Kong. :|

Day 7 - A Photo That Makes You Happy

This was a photo taken during my last travel to Hong Kong with my brother, aunts and cousins. It was hella fun just because I was with family. I couldn't help but smile each time I go through my Hong Kong 2009 folder. 

I love traveling. I love Hong Kong. I love family. <3

So my plans of visiting a salon to get my hair colored didn't push through. For one thing, my dad (a.k.a. my financier) is MIA. For another, my brother stole the car to go watch a movie. I ended up staying in the house all day, plucking my mom's white hair (ugh), watching How I Met Your Mother on DVD, and now, blogging and sound-tripping to Maroon 5. Which brings me to my last song syndrome.

The Price Of Beauty

I've never been a pimply kid...until college. The pressure of school got to me and eventually it got to my skin too. It stopped though but left ugly blemishes on my face. Now, I was never the kind of girl that has a "beauty buzz" but I just had to get rid of those pimple marks. I tried everything--from readily available toners, facial foams and even tried rubbing calamansi and ice on my face but nothing worked. Then an aunt of mine recommended L'Occitane's Red Rice line of products. I was amazed. In just a couple of weeks, my blemishes started to lighten and after a couple more weeks, they've completely gone. It's a miracle!

Ha! This is easy. The Harry Potter books--all seven of them. HANDS DOWN. I mean how brilliant can J.K. Rowling be to come up with things like the Monster Book of Monsters, Bertie Bot's Every-Flavored Beans, dementors, Wingardium Leviosa, Avada Kedavra, Muggles and heck, an entire wizarding world complete with schools (Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons), a bank, (Gringotts) a shopping district (Diagon Alley) and a whole Ministry of Magic? It's such a fun read. It's WICKED. I'm totally raving.

Scent Of The Moment

Beauty post! I just wanna rave about my new perfume. It's by DKNY and is called Be Delicious. And as the name suggests, it smells yummy!

 Although this ad here implies it reeks of green apples, I'd have to say the scent reminds me more of an after-shower fragrance, rather than any fruit. But it does smell ...yeah...delicious! And it comes in this unique, cute-sy bottle. More importantly, the boyfriend loves it. <3
