Eat. Pray. Love.

Me and my girlfriends saw this movie a week ago.

Short review: It's a very inspiring story about finding one's self but the movie had a few dragging parts, I must say. I haven't read the book yet but I can safely say that it's better than its reel version. But I labeled it still as one of the movies I'd see over and over again. The traveling parts were just so drop dead amazing.

Plus, I la-la-loved the syrupy quotes.
"It won't last forever. Nothing does."
"So miss me. Wish me light and love whenever you think of me."
"Dolce far niente: the sweetness of doing nothing." (This one I'd use for me and the boyfriend's anniversary album in FB. Hahaha.)
"Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.” (My personal favorite!)

These are just some of them. I'd get me a copy of the book real soon.

My college loves Brizie, Iyett, Mona, Karen, Xyza and myself--all fresh from work!

Let's make it a Friday night thing!

I was finally able to wear my lace up gladiators! Fierce, no?

Goodnight!

Attraversiamo! :)

You're My Exception

Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bangs, and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, every story we're told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don't, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave. And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe... it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is... just...moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this: knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment
you never gave up hope

Day 2 - Your Favorite Movie

A favorite movie would have to be something that I could watch over and over again. For that I pick...10 Things I Hate About You! I swear I've seen this movie a hundred times already.

Reasons it never gets tired:

  • Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger sizzle with sarcasm.
  • Anyone can totally relate to it.
  • Sex-related humor.
  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt!
  • Cast are all characters.
  • A modern day screen adaptation of a Shakespeare play? Simply brilliant!
  • Witty dialogue throwback.

For example:

Walter Stratford: [Bianca and Chastity are sneaking past Bianca's father] Shoulda used the window!
Bianca: Hi Daddy!
Walter Stratford: Hi... where're we going?
Bianca: Well, if you must know... a small study group of friends.
Walter Stratford: Otherwise known as an orgy?
Chastity: Mr. Stratford, it's just a party!
Walter Stratford: And hell is just a sauna.

And my personal favorite:

Patrick: I thought you wanted out.
Cameron: Yeah, well, I did, but, uh... that was until she kissed me.
Patrick: Where? (meaning to ask which part of his body)
Cameron: In the car.

I especially love watching it when I'm feeling a bit out there. I guess you can call it my comfort movie.

Not Born From A Boom Box

I saw a movie today: Step Up 3D.

One word: WHOA.

I would have to say that this is the BEST. Dance. Movie. I've. Ever. Seen. Hands down. I could say that since I love watching dance movies--especially ones that involve street dance. Up to now, I can't find it in words to describe the movie. Fine. The story may be a bit on the predictable side but I still enjoyed every minute of it. However, although watching it in 3D has its nice touches, it can, for some moments, take the reality out of the dance moves. But what's a great movie without a tiny setback right? All the same, it made me wish like crazy I was BFABB (Born From A Boom Box - born to dance).

Reasons to love the movie:
  • Beyond superb dancing skills. I simply gawked at every choreography.
  • Very creative costumes. (Skip to the final battle scene for this)
  • Awesome soundtrack. As in really awesome soundtrack.
  • Moose.
  • That little girl in the Missy Elliot Work It vid, Alyson Stoner.
  • MSA Crew represent!

Water battle scene.

Sneak a peek. Moose was most awesome here!

Some crappy photo I found online from their final dance battle.

Cutest kissing scene. That's Slurpee. :)

Favorite song from the movie. It was playing during Luke and Natalie's kissing scene.

Revenge Is Writing A Film About A Girl Who Dumped You

One of my favorite movies of all time:

Summer: Hey, Tom! I thought I might see you here. I’ve always loved this place ever since you brought me.
Tom: So I uh… I guess I should say congratulations?
Summer: Only if you mean it.
Tom: Well, in that case…
Summer: So are you okay?
Tom: I will be… eventually.
Summer: I like your suit! You look sharp!
Tom: So do you!
Summer: Thanks.
Tom: I quit the office.
Summer: You did? I didn’t know! That’s great!
Tom: And you… you’re married.
Summer: Yeah… it’s crazy, huh?
Tom: You should’ve told me… When we were at the wedding and we were dancing…
Summer: Well, he hadn’t asked me yet.
Tom: But he was in your life.
Summer: Yeah…
Tom: So why did you dance with me?
Summer: Because I wanted to.
Tom: You just do what you want, don’t you? You never wanted to be anybody’s girlfriend and now you’re somebody’s wife.
Summer: It surprised me too.
Tom: I don’t think I’ll ever understand that. I mean… it doesn’t make sense.
Summer: It just happened.
Tom: Right, but that’s what I don’t understand. What just happened?
Summer: I just woke up one day and I knew.
Tom: Knew what?
Summer: What I was never sure of with you.
Tom: You know what sucks? Realizing that everything you believe in is complete and utter bullshit. It sucks!
Summer: What do you mean?
Tom: You know, destiny and soulmates and true love and all that childhood fairy tale nonsense. You were right, I should’ve listened to you.
Summer: No…
Tom: Yeah, why are you smiling?
Summer: Tom…
Tom: What? Why are you looking at me like that?
Summer: Well, you know, I guess it’s cause I was sitting in a deli and reading Dorian Gray and a guy comes up to me and asks me about it and… now he’s my husband.
Tom: Yeah. And… so?
Summer: So, what if I’d gone to the movies? What if I had gone somewhere else for lunch? What if I’d gotten there 10 minutes later? It was… it was meant to be. And… I just kept thinking… Tom was right.
Tom: No.
Summer: Yeah, I did, I did. It just wasn’t me that you were right about, Tom. I should go… but I’m really happy to see that you’re doing well.
Tom: Summer! I really do hope that you’re happy.

The Last Airbender & The Pink Movement

Saturday. Me and my girlfriends went to The Pink Movement event.

Reasons for going:

1. It's for a great cause.

2. It's gonna be held at The Republiq in Resorts World, Newport City--this newly developed "luxurious entertainment spot" (quoted from the Resorts World Manila website). I've been dying to see the place.

3. We were guest-listed which meant free entrance. Heh. (I'm jobless. Anything free is gold.)

4. It features an all-women dance marathon. I love watching passionate dancers. I love their energy.

5. Me and my girlfriends needed another reason to get together and bond more and this was it.

6. It's Saturday and we didn't have anything better to do.

But before that, me and the boyfriend pushed through with our plans of seeing The Last Airbender movie in 3D. We've been watching the series the past few weeks so we were kinda excited to see it on the big screen--despite the bad reviews it has received from those who've already seen it.

The movie, in my humble opinion, was a bit disappointing--if you're going to base it on the series. But generally, I find it okay. The effects were great and the fight scenes were exciting. However, I didn't like it that they didn't show much of Aang's (the main character) happy-go-lucky side. I understand that M. Night Shyamalan has his own treatment of the story but I believe the movie would've been a whole lotta better if the characters stayed true to their personalities. Just saying.

The boyfriend was beyond disappointed. He was dismayed. Hehe. I can't blame him. He's grown to love the series.

So after the movie, we went off to pick up Brizie at Albert's to meet the rest of the girls. Finally, we arrive in Newport City.

The place is awesome. A work-in-progress but awesome nonetheless. It screams high-end.

Unfortunately, we arrived late for the event. We were only able to catch a bit of the dance marathon before the winner was announced. (If there's one thing me and my friends agree on, it's that you can never rely on any of us to be on time. Tsk.) But we stayed several more hours for a few drinks and a whole lot of dancing. :)

A glimpse of the inside. Nice.

Event goers. Inside The Republiq.

Getting ready for a night of dancing.

The boys.

Jam packed. The place was literally shaking.

We made new friends. Haha. These dudes offered to take my friend's picture. When she declined, they said, "Take our picture instead." And so she did. Haha. Weird.

Our group. We had super duper fun! ♫

It's definitely another experience for me and the boyfriend. We rarely go out to party. It's just not our thing. But we both agreed it's fun to do it once in a while with our friends. :)
